TRADITIE

Volgens Google is het een gebruik of gewoonte dat van generatie op generatie wordt doorgegeven.  Meestal zijn het feesten of verjaardagen die op traditionele wijze gevierd worden. Het feest begint met koffie of thee en gebak. Als dat op is, komt er een korte pauze. Na de pauze wordt er geborreld met iets hartigs erbij. Er zijn ook andere tradities, tradities die mensen koste wat koste willen handhaven omdat het zo hoort. Of ze het nog leuk en gezellig vinden is iets waar ze niet over nadenken.

De katholieke kerk zat vol met tradities, biechten bijvoorbeeld. Dat moest elke week, op zondag naar de kerk en de communie ontvangen op een lege maag. Jaren later mocht je hem ook ontvangen als je iets gegeten had. Waarom weet ik niet meer, maar het ging zo.

Wat vroeger ook traditie was dat, als je verkering kreeg, het de bedoeling was dat je die eerst aan je ouders voorstelde. Dat was belangrijk,want  hij of zij moest gekeurd worden. Protestant en katholiek samen mocht niet, onder geen voorwaarde. “Twee geloven op een kussen, daar slaapt de duvel tussen,” is een oude gezegde. Verder was het van belang dat ze uit een net en fatsoenlijk milieu kwamen en  een goede baan hadden. Dat laatste was vooral bij mannen belangrijk.

Zo zijn er ook tradities die zijn gebleven. Oud en nieuw bijvoorbeeld, als dat gevierd wordt komen er oliebollen op tafel. Met Pasen gekleurde eieren, met Pinksteren komt de heilige Geest langs en met kerst vieren we de geboorte van Jezus.  Traditioneel hoort er dan konijn op tafel te staan, tenminste zo ging dat. Vroeger was het traditie dat je naar de nachtmis ging en daarna met z’n allen gezellig aan tafel. Mijn pleegmoeder maakte dan altijd gehaktballetjes in tomatensaus. Een traditie die ze jaren in stand hield! JAREN!

Een heel andere traditie is Sinterkaas! In mijn column ‘Verplichte nummertjes’ heb ik duidelijk verteld hoe ik daar over denk. Vooral omdat het zo traditioneel is!

Lootjes trekken, cadeau kopen én een gedicht op rijm maken!

Elk jaar opnieuw hoopte ik dat het werd afgeschaft, maar niks, het ging gewoon door. Tja, en dan gebeurt er iets dat ik niet voor mogelijk had gehouden. De familie is bij elkaar gekomen en heeft eindelijk besloten dat de gedichten worden afgeschaft! TOT GROTE VREUGDE VAN MIJ! EINDELIJK! Enkel een cadeau. Ik hoef niet meer te dichten, ben dichtvrij en blij.

Maar omdat ik bang ben dat ik afkickverschijningen krijg maak ik er nog één. De Laatste!

 

Zwarte Piet,

Mag het nu wel, of niet?

Ik heb geen idee,

En zit er ook niet mee.

Ik geloof niet meer in Sinterklaas.

En die is toch zijn baas.

Kleine kinderen maakte hij altijd bang.

Dat weten we toch al heel lang.

Ze moesten braaf zijn,

Want dat vonden de ouders fijn.

Als ze stout waren moesten ze in de zak,

Dat is nog erger dan de bak.

Die zak ging mee naar Spanje.

Het land van de appeltjes van Oranje.

Daar werd peperkoek van ze gemaakt.

Die dan gelukkig ook nog lekker is en goed smaakt.

Nu moet hij ineens verdwijnen.

Of als blanke Piet verschijnen.

Dat weten ze nog niet.

Allemaal zorgen alleen om die stomme Piet.

De enige echte knecht van de Sint,

Dat weet ieder kind.

 

Ik zou zeggen houdt de traditie in stand,

Hij is maar heel even hier in dit koude kikkerland.

  1. Ja die tradities, sommige zijn mooi en andere wil je eigenlijk vergeten, maar Piet blijft voor mij altijd bij Sinterklaas al word ik 100 jaar

  2. Voor mij persoonlijk hoeft het sinterklaasfeest niet meer, daar heb ik de leeftijd niet meer voor. Maar voor alle kinderen in het land MOET het Sinterklaasfeest blijven, laten we deze traditie nou eens in ere houden. Als wij er allemaal zo over denken wat zeuren die paar mensen dan nog.
